Our retreats are located throughout Ecuador in a wild diversity of worlds including:

The famed Galapagos Islands

  • Historic cities
  • A tropical cloud forest paradise
  • The Avenue of Volcanoes
  • The windswept highland plains
  • The Amazon jungle
  • And more…

Ecuador is the most ecologically diverse country in the world according to its size. Add in its location on the equator and spring-like weather year round and you have access to wonderfully diverse locations mere hours apart.

On a 9-day ADVENTURE YOGA RETREAT, we travel from the cobblestone streets of Quito up into the heart of the Avenue of Volcanoes and end in a tropical cloud forest. Yoga practice is held beside crackling fires in an historic hacienda, on the roof top terrace of a boutique hotel in the city, and in an open pavilion overlooking the lush valley. Areas visited are: Quito, Cotopaxi, and Mindo.

During an 8-day GALAPAGOS YOGA RETREAT, you will stay in a beach front property on the youngest and largest island in the archipelago, Isabela. While there, you will hike a volcano, kayak through crystalline waters, sunbathe alongside marine iguanas, stroll with giant tortoises, and swim with sharks, sea turtles, sea lions, penguins, and more.

Galapagos Yoga Retreat with Alex Moody:

Alex Moody has been teaching yoga for over six years and is happy to call Asheville her home. She first discovered yoga in high school. Not having any studios in the town in Northern Virginia where she was growing up, Alex first learned about the poses from the tv show Exhale with Steve Ross. Years later, while suffering from migraine headaches in graduate school at the University of Virginia, Alex began a regular practice. Alex did both her 230 hour and 500 hour yoga therapeutics training at Asheville Yoga Center and graduated from Appalachian as a creative writing major (which she even uses while teaching yoga). Alex often works with one-on-one yoga therapy work and is currently training in OrthoBionomy techniques to work more fully with the parasympathetic nervous system. A selfproclaimed yoga mutt {and exercise mutt, she loves Pilates and CrossFit} Alex loves to learn about yoga from all different styles and has studied with many instructors including Michael Stone, Amy Weintraub, Steve Ross, Kathryn Budig, Heather Tiddens, and Bryan Kest.

Adventure Yoga Retreat with Amy Fix:

“I am an athlete at heart and want to share my of love of yoga with fellow athletes and non-athletes alike. I want to teach others that yoga can provide a non-competitive workout that improves everything from flexibility, endurance, balance and posture to mental focus and breath awareness. These aspects can be important in any athletic training as well as our daily lives.”
- Amy, RYT 200 and 500
